Comparison of features and main applications of several types of plastic pipes:

  

  PVC pipe

  

  It boasts good tensile and compressive strength, though its flexibility is lower compared to other plastic pipes. It exhibits excellent corrosion resistance and remains relatively affordable among various types of plastic pipes. However, it becomes more brittle at low temperatures. This material is commonly used for water supply and drainage, irrigation, gas and ventilation systems, electrical conduit applications, rainwater pipes, and industrial anti-corrosion pipelines in residential, industrial, mining, and agricultural settings—often employing methods like adhesive bonding, socket-and-gasket connections, or flanged threaded joints.

  

  CPVC pipe

  

  Outstanding heat resistance with a heat distortion temperature of 100°C, and excellent chemical resistance—ideal for bonding and flanged threaded connections in hot-water piping systems.

  

  PE pipe

  

  Lightweight, highly flexible, with excellent low-temperature performance and an affordable price, it boasts high impact resistance—but its compressive and tensile strength are relatively lower. It’s ideal for heat-fusion welding, as well as flanged or threaded connections in applications like drinking water pipes, rainwater drainage systems, gas pipelines, and industrially resistant corrosion-proof piping.

  

  PP pipe

  

  It exhibits excellent corrosion resistance, combined with good strength, high surface hardness, and superior surface finish. Additionally, it offers moderate resistance to high temperatures, making it suitable for applications such as hot-melt welding, flanged threaded connections, and piping systems used in chemical wastewater, seawater, oil, and irrigation. It is also ideal for use as heating pipes in indoor concrete floor heating systems.

  

  ABS pipe

  

  It boasts excellent corrosion resistance, is relatively lightweight, and exhibits superior heat resistance compared to PE and PVC—though it comes at a higher price. Common applications include sanitary drainage pipes for plumbing fixtures, as well as pipes used for conveying liquids, sewage systems, underground cable conduits, and highly corrosion-resistant industrial pipelines.

  

  PB Pipe

  

  Its strength lies between medium-density PE and PP, while its flexibility falls between LDPE and HDPE. Notably, it excels in creep resistance (cold deformation), maintaining integrity even after repeated coiling and bending. It also boasts excellent temperature and chemical resistance, making it ideal for hot-melt welding as well as flanged and threaded connections in applications such as water supply pipes, hot and cold water lines, gas pipelines, and underground high-pressure piping systems.

  

  GRP Pipe

  

  Excellent corrosion resistance, lightweight, high strength, and excellent design flexibility—these pipes feature socket-and-gland connections and flanged joints, making them widely used in petrochemical pipelines as well as large-diameter water supply and drainage systems.
